The Chilean Soap bark tree (Quillaja saponaria Molina) is exceptionally rich in natural triterpenic saponins. Thus in the native distribution area Quillaja extracts have been used for centuries by the indigenious people for washing.
In the past Quillaja trees were debarked for bark exportation (Quillaja saponaria Bark Extract), which decreased the tree population dramatically. To stop this Desert King Chile has developed an ecologically friendly extraction method, using wood chips from branches (Quillaja saponaria Wood Extract). Branches are selected sustainable (FSC certified) in natural forests and in Quillaja plantations in Chile, where the outstanding extracts are manufactured on-site. In step quality control and full batch traceability guarantee product compliance with the highest standards. The ultra filtrated Quillaja extracts are food approved (E 999) and thus cover a wide field of applications in the Food-, Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic industry.
As a result of careful, solely physical processing the components of the Quillaja extract sustain in their natural composition. For its surfactant and bioactive properties this skin-friendly natural extract is a perfect additive to a multitude of cosmetic products and detergents to effect purifying, emulsifying, foaming and softening characters.
Dermatological Tests have proven the outstanding mildness of our bioactive Quillaja extracts, which act skin moisturizing and sebum regulating. Thus the extraordinary Quillaja extract is particularly suitable for all kinds of highly sensitive skin.
